The Universal Studio Display is a completely new product which greatly expands the features of the existing Timecode Display and PunchLight product lines. In addition to timecode, the Universal Studio Display can show bars & beats, feet + frames, time, or samples. It also has a full PunchLight mode, indicating record start/stop and pre-roll/post-roll which is useful for musicians, singers, and other artists. Compatible with Pro Tools and most other audio/MIDI applications.

Display modes: Bars/Beats, SMPTE Time Code (MTC), Samples, Time elapsed, Recording start/stop/standby, Punch in/out, Sleep mode and Anti-flicker mode (turns off last two segments while counting)

Pro Tools compatibility for Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Announced

Digidesign has announced Pro Tools compatibility for Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) with Pro Tools HD® 7.4.1 software, the first of a phased Pro Tools update release. Pro Tools HD 7.4.1 software provides Mac OS X 10.5.1 compatibility* with Apple’s current 8-core Mac Pro computers (those featuring Intel “Harpertown” processors).


Expanded Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) support will be announced later, so digi advises Pro Tools Users to wait until official announcements are made before upgrading to Mac OS X 10.5.

New dates for Pro Tools QuickStart and Intermediate / Advanced Skills classes have been announced.

The QuickStart course is a one-day intensive class ideal for those new to Digidesign Pro Tools or in need of a refresher and some Pro Tools help.

The Intermediate / Advanced classes are designed for Pro Tools users ready to take their skills to the next level and pick up some useful tips and tricks along the way.

Each class is one full day of intensive learning. Course materials are provided and a certificate is awarded upon completion of the course. Lunch and snacks throughout the day are also included.

The long-awaited replacement for the Control 24 was announced at the AES show... With 24 faders, great looks, a bunch of analog io, 16 mic pres and a list-price of $9,999 - it's looking like it is going to be everything we've all been hoping for.

UPDATE 11.06.07 We just heard that C|24s are starting to ship in the next few days. Demand is sure to be high.

Digidesign ICON D-Control ES
AES SHOW NEW YORK: Digidesign announced a new look for ICON, with "visually enhanced design for improved legibility and easier visual navigation" essentially that means they've changed it to a much sexier black color scheme and improved the labelling. The new version of the console is now called the "D-Control ES".

For some time now we have been trying to find a way of printing audio onto the same track, similar to a freeze track function, and it looks like we've found a solution.

Whilst using this for a while we also stumbled upon a method for printing RTAS instruments onto the same track as well.

For both of these we have just posted two tutorial videos on our website - they are not of professional quality, but they explain the methods fine.
