Digidesign's "Reel Tape Suite" Software Bundle Now Available

Digidesign has just started shipping their new "Reel Tape Suite" plug-in bundle. This bundle was initially announced back at NAMM in early 2007. These plug-ins comprise of tape saturation, delay, and flanger effects. They are available for download demo and purchase at Digidesign dealers.

Native processing power has taken another leap. It has been a rumor since the end of last year, but Apple finally rolled out its 8-core Mac Pro desktop system today, the first Mac to feature Intel's newest Woodcrest Xeon processor.

Digidesign is now offering the Magma PE6R4 Expansion Chassis through authorized Digidesign Pro ToolsŪ HD dealers. This 4U rackmountable system offers six available PCI-X (PCI Extended) slots and comes with a PCIe host interface card, enabling you to expand the capabilities of a PCIe-based computer to accommodate a Pro Tools|HD system with up to six PCI-based HD Core, HD Accel, and HD Process cards (PCI-X supports PCI cards).

Digidesign has launched its 003 line of audio hardware, with the 003 Factory and the 003 Rack. The Factory version has a wide range of input and output ports, such as MIDI, ADAT and S/PDIF, and can sync with external devices via BNC Word Clock. Controls include eight faders, eight rotary encoders, and a multifunction jogwheel. The Factory also uses a FireWire port, and comes bundled with Pro Tools LE plus a variety of effects and instrument plug-ins, such as Ignition Pack 2 Pro. The Rack, meanwhile, is essentially the same as the Factory, but comes in a 2U rack-mount chassis and has less bundled software. The Rack Factory keeps the software intact. The basic 003 Factory should be shipping soon for $2,500 list; the Rack is $1,300 list, while the Rack Factory is $1,700 list.

Pro Tools 7.3
Pro Tools 7.3 is a simultaneous cross-platform and version release. LE, HD and M-Powered versions on both Mac and PC platforms were released at the same time, bringing all Pro Tools Users together on the same version. Initial reactions from Pro Tools Users members were very favorable.

Digidesign announced the mBox 2 mini. It's a smaller USB Pro Tools LE capable mbox with a single mic pre and stereo line in and out. With a street price of $299 the is by far the least expensive and most portable way to get into a Pro Tools LE system. The mini had been rumoured to exist after one of the larger guitar resellers broke rank and posted pictures and specifications of it on their website last month prematurely.
