Digidesign has announced two new Pro Tools software expansion options. The new Music Production Toolkit 2 expands the creative powers of Pro Tools LE and M-Powered systems, with up to 64 mono/stereo audio tracks as well as essential virtual instruments and tools for creating music. The new Complete Production Toolkit expands the capabilities even further by allowing up to 128 audio tracks and 7.1 surround WITHIN Pro Tools LE. An incredibly valuable option for post production users.

Digidesign had major news for the 2008 AES show in San Francisco last weekend. They have announced the arrival of their Pro Tools 8.0 software for HD, LE, and M-Powered systems. This is a major revision and includes a redesigned look, new virtual instruments and effects (included), a score editor, new MIDI tools, improved comping abilities, Elastic Pitch, Satellite options, and an even deeper integration with existing ICON and control surfaces. If you have an LE or M-Powered system, Digidesign now also offers optional bundles that allow the ability for 7.1 surround and up to 128 tracks...

In addition to timecode, the Universal Studio Display can show bars & beats, feet + frames, time, or samples. Digidesign has announced Pro Tools compatibility for Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) with Pro Tools HD® 7.4.1 software, the first of a phased Pro Tools update release. Pro Tools HD 7.4.1 software provides Mac OS X 10.5.1 compatibility* with Apple’s current 8-core Mac Pro computers (those featuring Intel “Harpertown” processors).
Expanded Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) support will be announced later, so digi advises Pro Tools Users to wait until official announcements are made before upgrading to Mac OS X 10.5.

The long-awaited replacement for the Control 24 was announced at the AES show... With 24 faders, great looks, a bunch of analog io, 16 mic pres and a list-price of $9,999 - it's looking like it is going to be everything we've all been hoping for.
UPDATE 11.06.07 We just heard that C|24s are starting to ship in the next few days. Demand is sure to be high.
