 Just returned from NAB this week in Vegas. Did I mention I love Vegas? Digidesign was showing just a hint of the new features in 7.4, including the video satellite service. The release isn't due out until the end of year.. I couldn't get any of the Digi guys to demo anything on video here for the site due to Digi's legal. SO, I don't have alot to report on at this time. It does look very interesting for certain workflows, and am curious to talk with some clients about the possibilities. Also Digi has announced their new monitors designed with PMC. This hit me kind of out of the blue (and sorry it's not directly ProTools related), I noticed these monitors at every Digi station at the show, and thought they might be M-Audio's at first with the obvious relationship, but the Digidesign badge on the front made me take a closer look, and then I noticed the "powered by PMC" on the side.. Well that's just interesting... Anyway I'm looking forward to us getting some in stock and to put them through the paces against the Adam, Dyn, Quested, and MEG's on the floor... With the PMC connection, on board DSP, and advanced design, It looks like Digidesign has aimed for the higher end of the market with these, and they will have to fight to break into it.
