looking to set up another HD system to perform editing duties whilst recording/mixing on the main one. Can I use the &.4 I already have? What is the licensing protocol (ilok etc)?

bump, can't believe no one knows.......

Pro Tools will only run with the hardware connected. So if you only have one piece of hardware, then no you can't run 2 at the same time. If you have two pieces of hardware, then yes. If you want to run the plug-ins on 2 systems at the same time you would need two sets of licenses. If only on one, you just put the ilok in that beast.

If your looking for a cheaper way around this, all pro tools session files are interchangeable, so you could run LE with a mbox on the second computer which will work out cheaper for ya.

No, not one system with two different instances of PT 7.4, I'm asking how to use 2 different hardware setups with the same 7.4 software. Do I just get another iLok and attach plugin licenses to it?

I'm pretty sure you would need two sets of ilok licenses and 2 iloks - your licenses can be transferred between systems but only when that ilok is plugged in.

ok, so how about the 7.4 license, do I need to buy yet another 7.4 for my second system, or can I use the 7.4 I already own?
