I have a Vista Ultimate dual core 4200 AMD with 2 gigs ram and 1800 GB storage (800 in 1000 external) and Im running Pro Tools 7.4 with the M Box2 mini and I have had ZERO problems (vista being the key there that everyone seems to think is terrible with recording).

I also run Reason 4, Cubase 4, Live 7, and pretty much any and all VST's you can name from Native Instr to say Amplitude and have ZERO problems with any of those either. (again always hear people saying they have trouble with those and Vista).

My recomendation if you go PC is go with VISTA ULTIMATE CLEAN INTSALL. The key is to use ONE hard ONLY for your Vista install. DO NOT PUT ANYTHING else on that drive and you will have one bad ass mofo as they say.

Anyways just throwing that out there in case you were thinkin OS choices if you go PC.

Hope all is well either way. Personally ME, I wish I could afford a mac book pro! But I cant. Not for a long time. If I could I would never touch a windows base PC again. Point is Im not saying its better.... But it does work and it can be done.

Thanks for your comments, much appreciated.

I guess the question now is: do I get Leopard with PT LE, or for a more realistic price, XP with M-Powered?

In either scenario I´d like to use my M-Audio Firewire Solo as the hardware.

in other words...

Would XP with PT M-Powered and a Firewire Solo be a good combination? Or would I encounter lots of technical problems and go half crazy trying to fix them?

Your M-Audio Firewire Solo will ONLY work with M-Powered. If you want LE you'll also have to buy LE hardware (Mbox, 003 etc). So if you want to use your Firewire solo, you have to get M-Powered. This obviously doesn't solve your OS problem though..............
