I soon will be in a position to invest in a total upgrade of my home recording system and am pretty sure that a Pro Tools /HD 1 / Mac Pro setup is the way to go. Since I basically do everything myself, my main question (surely many more to follow, but first things first)is what control surface would be appropriate given my circumstance. If this is not the correct forum for such a general question, please forgive me, but I obviously am in the initial information gathering stage, and this site struck me as a potentially valuable source.

Not really an issue - I just want to get what's appropriate for my style of work - work alone, minimal inputs required, dealing mostly w/ MIDI tracks (converted to audio),only audio recording per se is vooals.

My first thought reading your post a couple days ago was also , depends how much money you have.
I've got the command 8, for under a grand ($) it's pretty cool.
