I recently purchased an sm91 flat plate mic. I got such a great deal on it that I just decided to pick it and I really don't know much about about. Has anyone used one with good results on a kick or as a room mic?

The live sound instructor at our school uses one on the kick of our kit in our performace hall and the kick sounds great. Of course it always helps to start with a great instrument, properly tuned and played.
