Help with MIDI triggering problem for BFD Lite 6 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Hi,
I'm having trouble with a recording session in Pro Tools LE using BFD Lite v1.5.45. I've got a mac pro w/ 2 X 3 GHz Dual Core Intel Xeon and 7 gigs RAM. (OSX 10.4.11 and Pro Tools LE 7.1.3)

I noticed after a few hours into the session, the drum track was starting to display some odd phasing sounds. (At the time, I had recorded a number of vocal tracks using Autotune.) I opened up the BFD window and noticed that midi triggering appeared to failing in a particular area of the song. Certain patterns weren't turning off, or responding to the midi signals, and other patterns were being randomly triggered. It always started where I had a fill pattern above another pattern. It didn't appear that I was taxing the processor, as the CPU bar didn't even blip.

I deactivated all the other tracks and attempted to record the drums as an audio track, but I experienced the same problems even with only the BFD track and the Midi track activated. I shut down the computer & rebooted--same problem.

the only thing that appears to have changed from when it was working correctly is on the BFD window it says "Midi Node: BFD Lite 2." I don't have a BFD 1 activated.

Love PRo Tools, but I don't really have the expertise to figure this one out on my own.

This should probably be moved to the appropriate forum.

Have you checked that you didn't accidentally duplicate your midi notes? I don't use BFD, so I'm not sure you if you can double trigger a pattern or not (I kind of doubt it). You could try creating a new midi track or new playlist on your instrument track and record your pattern triggers again to check and see if the problem persists.

The other thing that might cause a phase issue is if you have the output of the plug-in coming through two signal paths. However,it sounds like you may have already checked for this, by deactivating all other tracks.

The other thing to look at would be compatibility, you are using a fairly old version of PT with a revision of BFD that I think they put out for compatibility with 10.5. You might check the FXpansion site for compatibility for that version of BFD.
