What's a decent set-up for live/location audio recording for bands and film?
I'm looking to set-up a simple yet versatile recording platform for live band and film location from scratch (Multitrack recorders are out of the question). The requirements are the following:
I. Laptop (MAC or PC?)
II. Software sequencer
III. Interface: Firewire bus powered for portability; preferrably 8analog mic/line in's (or if not 8, at least 4) with 48v phantom power divided into each channel instead of grouped; ability to track in 48khz 24-bit; No need for more than 2 outputs as I will most probably be monitoring through headphones.
IV. Good pre-amps to provide a good front-end to the platform. At least 2 inputs (budget for this can be up to USD$300), no need for effects, just pre-amps. also 48v phantom powered. (If the interface is good enough, there may be no need for this)
IV. Good lavalier and shotgun mics for location dialogue
Pretty much just for location/live recording, as I will be mixing the material separately. THANKS!!
