I have Pro Tools LE 7.1 with Digi 002. I have a dell Precision M4300 with Windows XP Pro, Service Pack 2, Intel Core2 Duo CPU,
T8300 @2.40GHz, 2.39GHz 3.50 GB Ram.
I can open the program and it will only run for about a second before giving error message: Audio processing is conflicting with other CPU tasks. If this occurs often, reducing the "H/W Buffer size" in the Playback Engine Dialog may help prevent the problem (-9129). Will Pro Tools not play on this system? What can I do?

Here is one thing you can do

Go into the "setup" tab up at the top and click on "playback engine"

a window should pop, this is the window that lets you fine tune your buffer size and some disk use options.
The first option should be the H/W buffer size.
I usually set it to 512 or 1024 when I am editing and at 128 when I'm recording.
basically it adjusts the sample buffer size in playback. So the lower the sample rate the faster it responds. So when you ahve a vocalist singing, the less of a delay on his voice in the headphones.

so yeah, is this a new project or is it an existing one with a fair few tracks already on it?

Another thing you might want to do is kill any unnecessary programs while your in Po-Tools. So make sure things like firefox, itunes, nero (etc) are all off cause they tend to bog down system recourses.

so, if you've already done all this and it's still is doing this then I'm not sure. I've never had the problem past this point.
