Setting it all up...please help! 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0

Alright, I'm at a loss. I run Pro Tools TDM 6.4.1, on Mac OS X 10.3.5. I have my core card, and two 888 16's, as well as a Behringer MX9000 analog board. I had one *** set up and all worked fine. When I hooked up my second 888, I had to edit the I/O setup in the menu, and I believe it is set up correctly, with each main stereo path and each one with two mono sub-paths. But when I record arm any channel in second 888, there is only a full loop distortion and it clips. I did a configuration mode, and all 8 channels on each 888 bang fine, and each channel on the board is passing signal. I have direct out from the board into each 888 channel, and return to each channel. I dont understand why one 888 would work flawlessly, and the second is sending some kind of distorted feedback loop. Can anybody help me?

Are you sure that you aren't creating a feedback loop at the console? Have you tried disconnecting the 888 outs feeding the inputs on the console to see if that is the problem?

i have...i've taken it all apart and tested all of the connections. The only thing I can figure is that i somehow set the I/O setup up incorrectly, but I cant see where I may have messed it up...

If I'm getting a feedback loop, the I/O must be set upcorrectly to pass info...now I'm totally lost...

to ensure that the setup i/o is correct, you should go to the input and output pages and delete all paths and then hit the "default" button.
