Hey everyone
hey i was wondering if u guys could help me out..
i'm a student and i'm trying to do music for a friend's final movie for a film course.. my friend gave me a rough cut of their movie on a dvd as a video.ts/audio.ts file or normal dvd burn.. and i used total video converter to convert the movie into a apple quicktime .mov file?..
the thing is when i try to import it into pro tools.. by dragging it in or importing through the file menu, pro tool gives me the message "access violation occurred", then puts the movie in the track but doesn't allow it to play.. or rather it plays, but the scroller runs over the track but nothing happens..it even brings up a window asking if i want to store int eh audio from the video in the same folder etc the first time i tried to import it pro tools it said it couldn't import because the movie doesn't have enough frames, or doesn't have frames something down those lines?..
i tried importing it into my friends pro tools system.. which is nearly identical to mine, win xp sp2, with almost the same computer specs and it imports perfectly.. so it has nothing to do with the file?..
i also bounced it down to an avi format.. and didn't work either.. that one actually said it doesn't have enough frames..
i also downloaded the latest veriosn on quicktime of their apple's site.. and that doesn't seem have done anything..
i also downloaded some mega pack of codecs and installed those and that hasn't done anything either
i also dumped my preferences.. but its wierd because my system doesn't seem to have any to delete in the first place.. all the folders are empty.. and their wasn't a pro tools databases folder in my "my documents" as decribed in the forum header..but i tried to anyway..
i'm not really sure what to do.. and as always its really grinding my balls..
and i do like my balls

.. any help would be much appreciated.. thanks alot..
