does Digidesign Mbox 2 Mini act as an external audio card or do i need to still have an audio card on my pc? Im currently using a gaming card with sonar, but was wondering if i step up to pro tools with an mbox2 or mbox2 mini....do I still have to deal with my audio card just not cutting it...or does the Digidesign Mbox 2 Mini act as my audio output device? Am i making sense? sorry, 1st post and totally new to pro tools,excuse my "gamer" jargon.
if it doesn't, is there a pro tools setup that does act as an external audio card? and how far up the chain do i need to go to get that? mbox pro? 003 rack? none of them?

Your Mbox 2 Mini will act as your soundcard, replacing your audio card, though when I used to use a Mbox with a PC it wouldn't always work in every piece of software. For some reason I had issues with Itunes and Quicktime and it got quite frustrating. Also if Pro Tools was open you could not use the hardware with another piece of software, though on a mac I have none of these issues.
Theres a handy piece of software that you drag programs into thats on the digi website that makes them use the pro tools hardware for its audio output. forget what its called though!
