Using a MIDI controller as a control surface? 3 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
I am brand new to PT, just acquired a 002 rack with PT 6.7 and was just sitting on my couch looking at my gear when an idea popped into my head:

Is it possible to program my Behringer FCB1010 foot controller to access the transport and othr functions in PT? It is a floorboard with 10 banks of 10 presets and 2 expression pedals. I was just thinking that it would be cool to be able to use the controller to start and stop recording and to punch in and out without having to sit at my desk while playing my guitars, maybe even using the expression pedals to fade in or out...
I have read hints and allegations here and there about MIDI control surfaces, but I have not been able to glean much info about them.
If this is possible, does it make a difference if I use my USB interface or the 002R's MIDI ports?

My knowledge and experience with MIDI is limited to programming my board to and operating my effects processors, so please forgive my ignorance... any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Dan

on a little further research, it seems that the behringer fcb1010 does not have MMC capability.. is MMC needed for a MIDI control surface in PT?
If so, does anyone out there know of a floor type controller with MMC capabilities?
Thanks

Dan

Does the unit support HUI emulation?

I don't know if it does or not, but I'm assuming not...
I played around with it a little bit last night but didn't have much time to really work on it, and then my computer crashed and I gave up for the day... I'm using XP MCE, and although I was able to get PT to run with a little OS tweaking, it is still buggy and unstable. Is there a way to link a midi device through external software or something? If I were able to find a MIDI translator that would convert CC signals to MMC?
