ProTools 7 on Leopard (Audio and system feeze) 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Hi there,

I've just bought a new MacBook Pro (2.0 Ghz, 2GB RAM running Leopard) and have just installed ProTools 7 LE with a mini MBox2. I've used all the updates on the ProTools site so that the software is up and running.

The problem is that when I use plugs (BFD Lite, Analog Factory and anything with the FXPansion VST Adapter) the audio will stop from time to time; the entire system will freeze up for a moment sporadically and at worse the audio will stop completely requiring a restart to ProTools.

Having put this system together (at a fair cost to the wallet!) I had been hoping for a very stable setup and this is far from it. Has anyone else experienced these audio and system problems? Could it be that the plugins I'm using are still not suited for Leopard?

Hope this isn't a topic that's been previously discussed - have search all that I can.

Many thanks
John

What version of PT 7?

Have you gone to the digidesign site and or your Getting Started manual and made sure you setup your system as recommended?

I'm using 7.4.2

Have all the updates I can find and almost certain the system is set up correctly.

I think the problem may be due to compatibility with the plugs and leopard.

is this likely?

Does anyone else have problems using BFD Lite and Leopard?

Thanks again for the support.

I have the same problem. Just bought new computer ( 2 days ago) -Imac 2.4 GHz, 1 GB ram, running osx 10.5.5. Mbox2. Pro tools LE 7.4.2, current and have all the updates.

very frustrating and want it fixed as I really wanted to be able to use the bfd lite plugin.

was running protools on an old dual 533 - and that was too slow for bfd lite- thought the new computer with beefed up processor speed would do it - but I am still getting cpu overload messages very early on- in an unusable sort of way- besides the other issues you mentioned as well make it unusable.

if there is a fix/or insight into issue please let me know.

I also wonder is anyone with a comparable machine able to use bfd lite effectivly? without the cpu overload? As it stands now, with my experience, I am wondering why it would have been included in the bundled ignition pack if it could not be used as a functional plugin.

anyone use bfd lite? What are their experiences with it?

peace

John, in the play back engine I went from two processors to 1 and that seemed to do the trick- so far so good anyway-

hope that helps
