Haven't used PT in a couple of years ... coming from behind the curve here. Sorry to have to ask dumb question, but there ya go.
System: Windows XP/SP2, 1GB RAM, PT 7.4 M-Powered, Firewire 410.
I haven't been able to figure out how to get MIDI into PT. I'm sending MIDI out from a Yamaha Motif XS (yes, it's switched to use its MIDI jacks rather than USB or mLAN), from the MIDI out jack to the MIDI in jack on the FW 410.
The drivers for the 410 seem to have been installed correctly: If I look in PT under System > MIDI > Input Devices, I see "FW 410 MIDI," and its checkbox is checked.
I know the audio out from the computer works, because I can hear Strike just fine when I click its little buttons.
I've added a new Instrument Track and instantiated Hybrid on it.
I've activated View > Mix Window > Instruments, which allows me to see the MIDI inputs to the Instrument track. The track for Hybrid has All as the MIDI input and Hybrid 1-1 as the MIDI output.
The audio output from the Hybrid track is Out 1-2, the same as for Strike.
But when I click the red R button for the Hybrid track and doodle on the keyboard, I get nothing. If I then activate the transport and try to record MIDI, nothing gets recorded.
Other than a bad cable (which I haven't checked yet), can anyone suggest what I may be doing wrong? I'm sure it's something dumb and obvious, but as I said, it's been a couple of years since I did anything with Pro Tools.
Thanks!
