track height 1 Month, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I am sure i've seen it done before. i am in school for recording arts but the instructor i remember doing this is no longer there.
There was a setting somewhere that would change the height of a certain track to whatever you set it to. Its not like zoom toggle that changes all tracks to the set height. it only affects the selected track. does anybody know where or how this works? or maybe it was in a newer version? it may have been at the 7.4 demonstration, i am using 7.3 still.. someone please clear this up for me

if it is unclear i'll explain it better..
he had all the tracks in the mini view but when he selected a track he wanted to edit it automatically blew up to "large" or "jumbo"..(whatever he choose in the settings area for the function). then went back to mini after he selected another track to work with.

this would make life a lot easier for me if i could remember how to do this. thanks for your time

Go to edit window. On the track you want to set track height, on the right side of the meter is like a ruler. Click on it and a drop menu will ask what hight you want.

You basically described the "Zoom Toggle" feature. What you might be missing is the preferences that sets the zoom toggle to follow the edit selection. Set that in the prefs and you will get what you're after.

002.. yea i know how to change track height. but ive seen a preference or quick key that will change it automatically without having to go through all that.

i'll try to set it in preferences. it's in the same section where you set the size for zoom toggle? i'll look. thanks.

thanks again i got it working now. already helping my work flow. as expensive as pro tools systems are i wish they would simplify the interface a little bit. i can arrange and edit a tracks faster with better features in cheap/Faster programs like acid if i was willing to sacrifice quality.
or at least have a decent tools manual that you don't have to pay another $50 for. i have the pro tools 101 book. but it'd be nice to just give us a list of all the features by category and purpose with a brief explanation and quick keys.
I know people that are pro tools certified that still tell me they learn new things everyday about the program.

They learn things everyday because PT is one of the most flexible and powerful DAWs around. It can be used effectively in all the various forms of audio work (at least all the major ones), and it is therefore configurable by the user to work in many different ways. An audio engineer working on music would never have the need for the tools that an audio post engineer would need/use and therefore there is a portion/facet of the program that that person has never used.

The manual is indexed and has a decent TOC, and is a great place to find answers or research a feature. I have had very little problem finding answers in the manual.
