Setting up a midi keyboard- bypassing the Ozone M- 1 Month, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
I am new to this so here goes. I have the pro-tools academic software with the Ozone M-audio 21 key interface. It does not have a midi input so I cannot run a full sized keyboard through it. I do have a MOTU fastlane interface hooked to the computer as I used to use CAKEWALk but lost the program. Is there a way to select the MOTU interface into protools so I can record from the large keyboard? Or do I need to purchase something else that will let me run Pro-Tools and a full sized keyboard and modules? Thanks- i have been trying to get this set up for over a year.

Man, a year is a long time to wait before asking for help.

You should be able to use the fastlane (is it USB?). You might have to download the latest driver for it from motu. Then you will just have to set up the MIDI setup on your computer to "see" the fastlane and any midi devices connected to it. However first we need to know what computer you are using? For a mac the program is "Audio MIDI Setup" for a PC it is the MIDI Studio Setup (I believe).

Set it up the MIDI Studio Setup program, which you can access from PT from the Setup menu.

I found general MiDi and selected fast lane A for input and B for output- then when I hit import it asks for a file. The keyboard is not in the file. Please elaborate. thanks
