Native processing power has taken another leap. It has been a rumor since the end of last year, but Apple finally rolled out its 8-core Mac Pro desktop system today, the first Mac to feature Intel's newest Woodcrest Xeon processor.

The dual 3.0GHz quad-core Xeon processor configuration is available as a $1,498 (list) upgrade over the base list price of $2,499 unit ($3997 total), which remains equipped with two 2.6GHz dual-core Xeons. Specs and pricing otherwise remain unchanged. |
